Tips to lose Weight And Feel Great
With all the fad diets, pills and weight loss advice circulating it can be hard to sift through it all and figure out what really works when it comes to effectively losing weight. But by turning a few easy tips into a daily habit you can easily shed those unwanted pounds and improve your overall health.
Choose the natural alternative
Or more simply put, if you can grow it, eat it. Processed foods like chips and cookies are high in calories, contain a lot of additives, sodium and don’t contain much if any nutrients. Eat natural foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc. to get the most bang for the buck.
Read labels
If you want to really know whats in a product don’t trust the cover. Flip the package over and read the ingredients list and the nutrition facts. They will tell the whole story. Be aware of lengthy ingredients lists and skip items that contain partially hydrogenated oils.
Skip those fad diets
I know, it’s easy to fall prey to a magic diet or pill touting a 10lb weight loss in under a week. But, realize on most of these diets the weight lost is usually water weight, and most of these diets involve starving yourself, which leads to greater weight gains when you go off the diet. Instead, lose weight the right way, follow a low calorie diet while consuming healthy, whole foods and the weight will come off.
Don’t worry about slipping up
Too many people obsess over their diets. And then when they happen to slip up they figure they might as well abandon the entire diet. It’s Ok to slip up now and then. Actually, enjoying a cheat meal every now and then can do wonders psychologically. Long story short, if you are craving that Neapolitan ice cream sitting in the fridge, grab a spoon and take a few bites. Just don’t overdo it.
Detox Your Body
Walk into any health food store and you will be presented with a number of different products all claiming to be just what your body needs to get rid of those unwanted toxins. This is a multimillion pound industry but there is increasing debate as to whether these types of products do anything other than lighten your wallet.
Anti Oxidants are substances that protect the body from harmful free radicals. They help by neutralising these potentially harmful but naturally produced bodily by products. It is claimed that modern living and poor diet causes a build up of these and that our body is incapable of dealing with them un aided.
Having looked into this in some detail we are forced to conclude that there is not a shred of evidence to support the claims made by the companies producing these products. A recent report by Voice of Young Science left very little doubt surrounding this area and has lead to calls for such products to be taken out of circulation. Due to the profits involved however this is very unlikely. What seems much more likely is tighter control regarding how the products are packaged and marketed.
The very least that the consumer should expect is that these types of products be clearly labelled and that inflammatory claims as to the health benefits restricted to those based on fact and not fiction.
If you feel that your body could do with a tonic try simply reducing your intake of processed food for three to four days and ensure that you drink at least nine cups of fresh water each day. This will give your body the break that it needs and save you money at the same time.
